Al-Ittihad are exploring the possibility of acquiring the services of Manchester City star goalkeeper Ederson.
Ederson’s future has been the talk of the town since the end of the 2023/24 season. The Manchester City goalkeeper seems interested in parting ways with the club in search of a new challenge and he is attracting a lot of interest from the Middle East. According to Gianluigi Longari, Al-Ittihad are keen on signing the Brazilian international ahead of next season.
The Saudi Pro League have signed some exceptional players in the recent past and they will look to keep the trend going this summer as well. Al-Ittihad are already a powerhouse and they are looking to further improve their squad by adding Ederson to their ranks.
Ederson wants to leave Manchester City?
The Brazilian goalkeeper has done wonders for Pep Guardiola’s team since joining them from Benfica back in 2017. He has been integral to all the success that they had in recent seasons. While he still has two years left on his deal at City, reports suggest the 30-year-old is keen on making a move away from the club.
Guardiola’s team don’t tend to hold onto players against their will as long as their demands are met and in this case, they are looking for around £40 million. While they could be open to his departure, the Premier League champions are trying their best to keep hold of their star. They are willing to offer him a new deal but his future still doesn’t seem certain.
Al-Ittihad want to sign Ederson
Al-Nassr were keen on signing the shot-stopper and they were in negotiations with City. But, when their final bid worth around £25 million was turned down, they decided to against pushing for his services. They were willing to make Ederson the highest-paid goalkeeper in their world but couldn’t strike a deal with the English club.
With the Cristiano Ronaldo-led team taking a back seat, Al-Ittihad seems to have found a window to make a move and add him to their squad. Ederson is only 30 and he still has a lot of football left in him. His arrival will surely strengthen the former Saudi champions’ defence.
They have already started working towards a potential deal as they have started investigating the possibility of bringing him to the club. The SPL club are planning to approach Manchester City to discuss a potential transfer.
