Manchester United face price hike in Rayan Ait-Nouri chase

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly set to raise the price tag of Rayan Ait-Nouri, a target for Manchester United.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Rayan Ait-Nouri is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on signing a left-back in the summer transfer window. However, Wolverhampton Wanderers will likely increase the price tag of their prized wing-back after recent updates pointed to a valuation of around £38 million.

The rise of Rayan Ait-Nouri

Rayan Ait-Nouri has been one of the best young full-backs in the Premier League since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Angers SCO. The Black Country outfit initially secured the services of the 23-year-old on a season-long loan deal in October 2020 before completing a permanent transfer in July 2021 and handing him a contract with £33,000-a-week wages.

A native of Montreuil, Ait-Nouri spent his formative years in France and represented the country in age-group football. The player passed through the academies at AS Val de Fontenay, ASF Le Perreux 94, and Paris FC before graduating from the youth division at Angers SCO. However, he has chosen to represent Algeria in senior international football.

The Algerian international has turned out over 100 times thus far for Wolverhampton Wanderers while chipping in with seven goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, Rayan Ait-Nouri’s progress at the Molineux has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Manchester United will be one of his prospective suitors in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United interested

Manchester United’s interest in Rayan Ait-Nouri is understandable. The Red Devils have been scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window after Luke Shaw struggled to remain fit for most of the 2023/24 season and Tyrell Malacia missed the entire campaign.

So, several candidates, including Ferdi Kadioglu, have emerged on Manchester United’s radar, with Ait-Nouri also a viable target. However, signing the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window will be a tall order, with Wolverhampton Wanderers raising their asking price from the reported valuation of £38 million.

While Rayan Ait-Nouri’s £33,000-a-week wages make him an appealing target for Manchester United, the Red Devils do not want to break the bank to secure his services. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Algerian international.
