Liverpool are looking to raid Bundesliga for star trio Joshua Kimmich, Jeremie Frimpong and Donyell Malen this summer.
According to Bild via Paisley Gates, Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Joshua Kimmich, Jeremie Frimpong, and Donyell Malen as they look to bolster their squad ahead of Arne Slot’s first season in charge. The Reds are looking to raid the Bundesliga for the star trio valued at €130 million.
The Merseyside club are looking to ensure Slot has everything needed at his disposal to ensure they maintain the levels reached during Jurgen Klopp’s time at Anfield. They seek more quality in almost every area of the pitch and are interested in the services of three Bundesliga players who could solve quite a few of their problems.
Liverpool want to bring Kimmich to Anfield
Bayern Munich star Kimmich is the first of their targets. The German international could add a lot of quality to their midfield. Following the departure of Thiago Alcântara, he could play a pivot role in that midfield and his versatility could do wonders for them.
He prefers playing as a defensive midfielder or a touch higher up the field but is equally good at playing right-back when needed. The report suggests he has an 80% chance of leaving the German giants for a new adventure with just 12 months left on his deal.
While he is valued at €50 million, with just a year left on his contract there could be a chance of striking a deal at a lower price. While Liverpool are interested in his signature, they could face competition from Chelsea and Barcelona. The Catalan giants seek more quality while the Blues are looking for an experienced campaigner who can guide the young stars at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool also keen on Frimpong & Malen
The second Bundesliga star on Liverpool’s radar is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong who was exceptional in their title-winning campaign last season. The 23-year-old is one of the best young full-backs in the world and he can surely be a great signing for them.
Not only can he compete with Trent Alexander-Arnold for a place in the starting XI, but the Dutch sensation will give Slot the freedom to use the Liverpool academy graduate in a midfield role if and when needed.
While Frimpong still has four years left on his contract, there is a €40 million release clause that could lead to his departure. But, it expires this week and the Reds will have to hurry. As per the report, they are already in talks to sign him.
Donyell Malen is also on their wishlist as they look to add more depth to their attack. Amidst Mohamed Salah’s uncertain future, he could be an ideal acquisition for the club. With two years still left on his contract at Borussia Dortmund, they could look for around €40 million for the 25-year-old. As of now, the German club haven’t received any enquiry for his signature. As a result, it will be interesting to see if the Reds do make a move.
