Manchester City make contact to sign Dani Olmo

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have enquired about the availability of RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.

According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester City are always on the lookout for opportunities to further bolster their squad. They are interested in the services of RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo and have contacted RB Leipzig to know more about a potential transfer.

Things might not have worked out for Olmo at Barcelona but the move to Dinamo Zagreb helped him get his career back on track. He joined the German club in the winter of 2020 and hasn’t looked back since. He has established himself as a mainstay for both club and country.

While the 26-year-old prefers playing as an attacking midfielder, he is well capable of featuring on the flanks. He struggled with injuries last season and could only manage 25 appearances at club level. Olmo still had eight goals and five assists to his name.

The former Barcelona youth product is busy helping his nation go a long way at Euro 2024. While the player is focused on the task at hand, multiple clubs are considering making a move for his signature.

City want to sign Olmo this summer

Manchester City are one of the clubs who are interested in signing Olmo. Pep Guardiola’s team have asked RB Leipzig for information about the Spanish international. They seem to have enquired about the cost of a potential transfer.

They have closely monitored the Leipzig attacker for around two years and now are ready to intensify their efforts to bring him to the club. While City are not sort of firepower on the flanks, there is uncertainty around the future of a few of their stars.

Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne have all been linked with a move away from the club. City are looking to bring in Olmo to further bolster the centre of the park as well as to ensure they have enough depth on the flanks.

While they will look to ensure Silva and De Bruyne continue at the club, Grealish could look to part ways in search of regular first-team action after going down the pecking order last season.

RB Leipzig are looking for a fee of £50.6 million if they decide to sell their star. Since he still has three years left on his deal, they will have the upper hand in negotiations if the talks advance in the coming weeks.
