Everton submit offer to Wilfred Ndidi

Everton have reportedly submitted an offer to 27-year-old Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi amid uncertainties surrounding his future at the newly promoted Premier League club.

According to reputed French journalist Santi Aouna, Wilfred Ndidi is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window. And they have submitted a contract offer to the 27-year-old amid uncertainties surrounding his future at newly-promoted Premier League club Leicester City.

Wilfred Ndidi and his Leicester City journey

Wilfred Ndidi has established himself as a pivotal figure for Leicester City since arriving from KRC Genk in January 2017. The Nigerian international has been a mainstay in the middle of the park in the last seven and a half years while adding facets to his game.

Ndidi surprised many with his productivity in the final third in the 2023/24 season, contributing to 12 goals. The 27-year-old found the back of the net six times and provided six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. However, the midfielder’s long-term future at Leicester City is uncertain heading into the summer transfer window.

The Nigerian midfielder’s contract with the newly promoted Premier League club runs out in a few days. While the Foxes are scrambling to keep hold of Ndidi, time is running out for them. Such a situation has captured the attention of several well-known clubs, especially in the Premier League, with Everton among his prospective suitors.

Everton interested in Ndidi

Everton’s interest in Wilfred Ndidi is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Amadou Onana. The Belgian international will likely depart from Goodison Park in the coming weeks, with Everton eager to balance the books.

The Toffees are desperate to stray clear of flouting the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules after suffering multiple points deductions in the 2023/24 season. So, Onana will likely leave Everton in the summer transfer window, with Ndidi a viable target to replace him.

However, Everton will face stiff competition from Ligue 1 clubs like AS Monaco, Lyon, and Marseille. It will be interesting to see if the Merseyside club can stave off the three Ligue 1 outfits to sign the 27-year-old and keep him in the Premier League.
