Chelsea submit enquiry for Aaron Anselmino

Chelsea are keen to sign Aaron Anselmino this summer as they face the challenges of Manchester United and Boca Juniors’ intention to keep him.

According to HITC, Chelsea have made an enquiry for Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino. The Blues are eager to strengthen their backline, and they could see the Argentine sensation replace Trevoh Chalobah, although his club would like to keep the 19-year-old this summer.

Chelsea keen on Aaron Anselmino

Chelsea are making some firm decisions about their squad and are currently focused on strengthening their defensive ranks ahead of the new season. They have already signed Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham, with the 26-year-old likely seen as a starter in Enzo Maresca’s plans.

The centre-back’s arrival does make Chelsea’s centre-back options a bit stacked, considering they already have French trio Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and Axel Disasi in their ranks. However, they might create space for another addition should they manage to sell homegrown star Trevoh Chalobah, which will boost their finances and create funds for a new addition.

Boca Juniors star Aaron Anselmino remains a target, with reports suggesting Chelsea have already made a formal offer recently. The Argentine side managed to tie the 19-year-old down to a new four-year deal, with suggestions that they had managed to take out the previous release clause. However, there appears to be a new clause in place or at least an understanding should the defender wish to move to Europe.

Chelsea have kept tabs on Anselmino and have now made a thorough enquiry in a bid to sign him. Should he make his move to Stamford Bridge, the 19-year-old will be the second South American in this window after Estevao Willian completed his medicals to inch closer to joining the Blues.

Manchester United keen on Anselmino; Boca want to extend his stay

Manchester United are firmly in the race for Anselmino and have made him one of their key targets this summer. Erik ten Hag remains keen to add to the defensive depth of his squad, considering some key stars have already left or might leave this summer, including Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

While the interest from the Red Devils is a worrying prospect for Chelsea, Boca Juniors could add a layer to those complexities. The Argentine giants are eager to keep the 19-year-old defender this summer and might consider a sale only in 2025. However, should there be a clause in Anselmino’s contract, it is beyond the club’s control, as the defender might choose to make the switch to one of those Premier League giants.
