Aston Villa sign Chelsea target Ethan Amundsen-Day

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have won the race for the services of Chelsea target Ethan Amundsen-Day.

According to a report from TBR Football, Aston Villa have managed to secure the services of Ethan Amundsen-Day. Unai Emery’s team have managed to beat Chelsea and other interested clubs in the race for the signature of the teenage defensive sensation.

Chelsea were keen on signing Amundsen-Day

The Blues parted ways with Thiago Silva after the end of last season. They were well aware of the fact that they needed more depth at the back. As a result, they ended up signing Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer after his contract at Fulham ran out.

Despite adding Adarabioyo to their squad, the London club were still keen on more defensive reinforcement.  They were interested in signing teenage sensation Amundsen-Day who has huge potential and could have helped them in the long run.

But, the Blues have failed to come out on top in the pursuit of his services. Aston Villa have managed to snatch the 19-year-old away from Chelsea. While he might not be ready for first-team football yet, his huge potential suggests Emery’s team have just managed to get their hands on a gem.

Villa announce Amundsen-Day’s signing

The report claims they have beaten competition from clubs across Europe to land the teenager in their ranks. Villa have already made an official announcement about signing the Norwegian youth international.

Amundsen-Day came up the ranks at Fredrikstad before joining FC Copenhagen in the summer of 2021. While he didn’t feature for their first team during his three-year-long stint there, he did make quite a name for himself playing for them at the youth level.

With his contract running out, there was no shortage of interest. But, Villa are the ones who have managed to secure his services on a free transfer. The club’s website has confirmed that the teenager will be a part of their Under-21 setup. His performances for them at the youth level will decide if he can break into their first team in the near future.
