Manchester City looking to steal a march on Real Madrid for Franco Mastantuono

Manchester City are looking to overtake Real Madrid in the pursuit of Argentine sensation Franco Mastantuono.

According to SPORT via SportWitness, Manchester City are looking to hijack the signing of Franco Mastantuono from Real Madrid. The Madrid-based club have an agreement in place with the player’s camp over a potential transfer but City have established contact with River Plater and are ready to push hard to sign him.

Mastantuono has come up the ranks at the Argentine club. He was promoted to the first team at the start of the year. In just over 500 minutes of first-team football spread across 18 appearances, the attacking midfielder has managed to contribute towards three goals.

The 16-year-old’s impressive performances at the youth level for club and country haven’t gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs from across Europe have been closely monitoring his progress over the years.

Real Madrid keen on signing Mastantuono

Real Madrid are one of the clubs who have shown a lot of interest in the teenage sensation. Los Blancos have a great scouting network in South America which has already helped them sign some exceptional players. They have found another gem in Mastantuono.

The teenager has managed to impress the Madrid scouts and the Spanish giants are keen on adding him to their ranks. They feel he could be an important part of their team in the long run as a result they have stepped up their interest in him.

Los Blancos already have an agreement in place with the player’s entourage regarding a transfer. They now need to strike a deal with the Argentine club for the deal to go through. River Plate have no intentions of negotiating anything lower than his €45 million release clause which could make things complicated.

Manchester City plotting a hijack

While the player seems keen on joining the Spanish club, Manchester City are looking to hijack the deal. City are also quite impressed with his impressive and huge potential. They want to bring him to Manchester and have been in contact with River Plate for several weeks as they look to steal a march on the Spanish giants.

City have great relations with the Argentine club having signed Julián Álvarez and Claudio Echeverri in the recent past. They are looking to take advantage of it and strike a deal for the attacking midfielder. If they do manage to strike a deal with River Plate, the English champions will then have to convince the teenager about the move.
