Liverpool make enquiry for Levi Colwill

Liverpool are seemingly returning for Levi Colwill, as they have reportedly made an enquiry for Chgelsea’s 21-year-old academy graduate.

According to HITC, Liverpool are not giving up on the pursuit of Levi Colwill yet, as they have made a fresh enquiry for the defender. The Merseysiders were keen on Chelsea’s 21-year-old academy graduate last summer and probably in January, as they might make another run towards him this summer.

Liverpool keen on Levi Colwill

Liverpool boss Arne Slot specifically wants a left-sided defender in his ranks for next season and has a few players on a shortlist. Levi Colwill was a player of interest for the Merseysiders well before the Dutchman arrived, as they attempted to bring Chelsea’s 21-year-old academy graduate last summer and probably even in January.

A while ago, Liverpool was prepared to walk away from the pursuit, but it appears they are not about to do so, as the Reds have made a fresh enquiry about Colwill. This move is a clear indication that they consider Colwill at the very top of their left-sided centre-back shortlist, as they might further explore whether Chelsea are willing to consider any offers.

Colwill, on the other hand, is not understandably certain about his future despite dreaming of playing in a Chelsea shirt for a long time time to come. He will reportedly hold showdown talks with new manager Enzo Maresca about his immediate future, as former boss Mauricio Poichettino did not use him in the latter stages of last season.

While Chelsea are not keen on selling him as opposed to some of their other homegrown stars to sustain their finances and oblige with PSR rules, they might change their stance should the player want out. Hence, for Liverpool to stay tight in this race, much will depend on what the Blues want in terms of a transfer fee, as there will be more clubs interested, with Bayern Munich one of those keen on the 21-year-old.

Liverpool keen on a left-sided defender

Since the season ended, it may have pointed at Liverpool’s lack of a left-footed centre-back, and Arne Slot has seemingly prioritised a move for such a profile. Eintracht Frankfur’s Willian Pacho remains a target, but the Dutchman reportedly prefers Goncalo Inacio of Sporting CP

For many years now, they have not needed such a player owing to Virgil van Dijk’s presence in that role, although their search for a left-sided defender could be an indication the Dutchman’s future is in some doubt. Whether that is Colwill or Inacio, the coming weeks will make it clear who Liverpool prefers, although they are also keen on a right-footed option in Leny Yoro.
