West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Raheem Sterling from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Raheem Sterling is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. The Chelsea forward has thus emerged as a target, although the Blues have also proposed him in a part-exchange deal to sign Michael Olise.
Raheem Sterling and his Chelsea inconsistencies
Raheem Sterling has blown hot and cold since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in a deal worth £50 million in July 2022. While the Englishman has been one of the most productive performers for the West London club, he has been nowhere near his best levels during his spell at Stamford Bridge.
Sterling contributed to 18 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions in the 2023/24 season, finding the back of the net ten times while providing eight assists. However, the 29-year-old faces an uncertain future at Chelsea heading into the summer transfer window due to the club’s financial issues.
The Blues run the risk of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. So, they are contemplating cashing on Sterling, one of their highest earners. However, the English international has shown no inclination to leave Chelsea amid his links with Turkish and Saudi Pro League clubs. The latest rumours talk about West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
Move across London on the cards?
West Ham United’s interest in Raheem Sterling is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. They view the Chelsea forward as a replacement for Michail Antonio. And Sterling can create a fluid offensive unit alongside Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.
As for Crystal Palace, widespread reports have suggested that a part-exchange deal involving Michael Olise might be on the cards. However, the Chelsea attacker can be a top-class addition to the Crystal Palace squad as a replacement for Olise.
However, Sterling is happy and content at Chelsea despite the rapidly emerging exit links. So, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can offload the 29-year-old English international in the summer transfer window amid interest from West Ham.
