Liverpool more likely to sign Ederson over Teun Koopmeiners

Liverpool are prioritizing the signing of Atalanta’s Brazilian midfielder Ederson over his teammate Teun Koopmeiners.

According to a report from TuttoJuve, Liverpool are pushing hard for the services of Ederson as they look to bolster their midfield ahead of next season. While the Merseyside club have also been linked with his teammate Teun Koopmeiners, they are more likely to sign the Brazilian international in the summer.

Ederson left Brazil in the winter of 2022 to join Salernitana and in just six months, he earned himself a move to Atalanta. While his debut season didn’t really go according to plan for the 24-year-old, he was sensational last season.

He was involved in 53 matches last term and contributed toward eight goals. Ederson played a big part in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph as they defeated Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen in the final.

Liverpool keen on Ederson

His exceptional performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs and Liverpool are one of the clubs who are keen on signing him ahead of next season. The Reds want to reinforce their midfield, they want to add more quality despite having undergone a major overhaul last summer.

They feel the need to bring in someone who can control the tempo and add more stability. The Reds believe Ederson is the perfect fit for the role as he has the experience of doing it in the Italian top flight as well as Europe.

Koopmeiners is not a priority for Atalanta

While they are working on a potential transfer for the 24-year-old, the Reds have also been linked with Koopmeiners. The 26-year-old was another standout performer for the Atalanta last summer. The Dutch attacking midfielder scored 15 goals and he even bagged seven assists in his 51 outings.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs will knock on the Italian club’s door for him. While the Reds were linked with him, their priority is to sign someone who can bring defensive stability and Ederson is the ideal target for them. According to the report, they are more likely to bring the Brazilian to the club ahead of the Dutch international.
