Pedro Lima agent confirms progress in talks to join Chelsea, move close

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Pedro Lima from Sport Recife.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the move for Pedro Lima is now edging closer. His agent has also revealed via Evening Standard that there has been progress in talks to join the Premier League club.

“There has been progress in the negotiations, but it’s not over yet,” agent Renato Guimaraes said. “The salary part is settled, but there are still some clauses to be defined in the contract, some bonuses.”

The 17-year-old is highly rated in South America, and he has a bright future. He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for Chelsea. The young defender has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League club, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea can secure an agreement with his club now.

The Blues need to improve their squad this summer, and they should target established players who can come in and make an immediate impact. Although Lima is a top-quality talent with huge potential, he is not ready to make an immediate impact in the Premier League yet.

Pedro Lima is a future investment

Chelsea have shown a willingness to invest in talented young players in recent years, and they are hoping to add to the formidable pool of young talent at the club. Lima would be a solid future investment for them.

The 17-year-old will be attracted to the idea of playing for Chelsea in the near future. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they could provide him with the platform to compete at the highest level.

It would be a major step up in the 17-year-old’s career if he manages to secure a move to the Premier League club. Interestingly, Pedro Lima was also a target for Real Madrid, who have made significant investment in the Brazilian market.

Meanwhile, Chelsea finished sixth in the league table last season and a club of their stature will be expected to compete for major trophies next season. It will be interesting to see if they can plug the weaknesses in their squad and bring in the right additions this summer. Along with talented youngsters, they should look to aim for established stars who can help bridge the gap with clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal.
