Everton join race to sign Khephren Thuram

Everton will reportedly compete with Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli for 23-year-old French midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Khephren Thuram is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are also keen on signing the French midfielder, with the Merseyside club ready to offer €25 million to secure his services.

The rise of Khephren Thuram

Khephren Thuram has gone from strength to strength since joining OGC Nice from AS Monaco in July 2019. The Frenchman has been one of the best young midfielders in Ligue 1 in the last half a decade, with his progress helping him break into his national team’s senior squad.

The 23-year-old was not at his best in the 2023/24 season but still managed nearly 2,500 minutes of game time across 29 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with one goal and one assist. However, despite the inconsistent displays, Thuram’s stock remains high, with several high-profile clubs keen on securing his services.

The update by Tutto Juve has revealed that Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are interested in the French midfielder. In addition, recent reports have linked him with many other European bigwigs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United. However, a shock move to Everton might be possible.

Can Everton sign Thuram?

Everton’s interest in Khephren Thuram is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Amadou Onana. The Belgian international is a target for several European heavyweights.

So, several candidates have emerged on Everton’s radar, with Thuram emerging as a viable target. The report has claimed that the Toffees are ready to cough up €25 million to sign the French midfielder. However, convincing the OGC Nice star to swap the Ligue 1 club for Goodison Park might be a tall order.

With Thuram a target for many high-profile clubs, Everton will face an uphill task to beat the severe competition to his signature. It will be interesting to see where the 23-year-old Frenchman lands if he leaves OGC Nice in the summer transfer window.
