Barcelona, PSG make approach for Amadou Onana

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly submitted enquiries to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, whose price tag is £50 million.

According to a report by Football Insider, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are in a five-way battle to sign Amadou Onana in the summer transfer window. The two European heavyweights have already established contacts over a possible move for the Everton midfielder. Meanwhile, the Premier League club will demand around £50 million to part ways with the 22-year-old.

Amadou Onana and his Everton journey

Amadou Onana has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League since joining Everton from LOSC Lille nearly two years ago. A highly-rated midfielder when he arrived at Goodison Park, he has gone from strength to strength in the last two seasons.

The 22-year-old has turned out 72 times thus far for Everton, chipping in with four goals and three assists. However, Onana’s long-term future at the Merseyside outfit is uncertain due to financial issues plaguing the club. So, with the Toffees eager to balance their books, the Belgian international might be one of the candidates to help raise money.

The youngster has no shortage of suitors pursuing his signature, with several high-profile clubs keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window. The report by Football Insider mentions a five-way battle for the Everton midfielder, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain establishing contacts over a possible move.

A man in demand

Barcelona’s interest in Amadou Onana is understandable. The Blaugrana will look to delve into the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. Sergio Busquets has left a gaping hole at the Catalan club, which Oriol Romeu failed to fill. Romeu will leave Barcelona in the coming weeks, with the Everton midfielder emerging as a viable target.

As for PSG, Carlos Soler faces an uncertain future at Parc des Princes, thus necessitating the need for a new midfielder. So, Onana has emerged as a target for PSG. Meanwhile, Everton will demand around £50 million to part ways with the 22-year-old midfielder.

The price tag should not be an issue for PSG, although Barcelona might struggle to raise £50 million to secure Amadou Onana’s services. Meanwhile, the Belgian international is also a target for Bayern Munich. It will be interesting to see where the youngster lands amid a five-way battle for his services.
