Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester United have a shot in their arm, with Everton reportedly ready to cash in on Amadou Onana.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester United are interested in signing Amadou Onana from Everton in the summer transfer window. And the Toffees have informed intermediaries that they are ready to sell the Belgian international, valued at £50 million.
The Amadou Onana story
Amadou Onana has made considerable progress in his career since joining Everton from LOSC Lille in August 2022. The 22-year-old was one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1 before arriving in England nearly two years ago and has garnered that moniker for the Premier League.
While the youngster lost prominence towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign, he has turned out 72 times thus far for Everton, chipping in with four goals and three assists. However, Onana does not have a long-term future at Everton, with the Merseyside club ready to cash in on him in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Belgian does not have a shortage of suitors, with Arsenal, Barcelona, and Manchester United interested in him.
A man in demand
Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal and Newcastle United are the front-runners to secure Amadou Onana’s services in the summer transfer window. The North London club will likely part ways with Thomas Partey in the coming weeks. So, Arsenal can do with a long-term midfield solution, making the Everton prospect a viable target.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s interest in Amadou Onana is understandable. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder who can primarily reprise the holding midfield role. So, the Everton midfielder has emerged as a viable target, although his price tag of £50 million might pose a problem.
As for Manchester United, they will likely offload Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek, and Casemiro this summer. In addition, Sofyan Amrabat will not complete a permanent move from Fiorentina. So, Onana has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.
Arsenal and Manchester United should have the funds to cough up £50 million and secure Amadou Onana’s services. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can raise the required sum to sign the 22-year-old Everton midfielder.
