Fabricio Bruno set to join West Ham United after deal agreement

Fabricio Bruno is reportedly set to join West Ham United after the Hammers sealed the agreement over a deal with Flamengo.

According to a report by The Guardian, Fabricio Bruno has been the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have been keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. And they are on the verge of completing their first summer signing after sealing an agreement with Flamengo over a deal worth £15 million for the Brazilian international.

Who is Fabricio Bruno?

Fabricio Bruno has been one of the best defenders in his homeland for several years. A native of Ibirite, he spent his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the youth division at Cruzeiro nearly a decade ago. A short spell at RB Bragantino beckoned before the 28-year-old joined Flamengo in February 2022.

The Brazilian international has come leaps and bounds during his spell with Flamengo, with his progress earning him his bow with his national side. Meanwhile, Bruno has been a mainstay at the back for Flamengo, already amassing nearly 2,000 minutes of game time across 22 outings in all competitions.

However, Fabricio Bruno’s spell with Flamengo will likely end in the summer transfer window, with his first adventure in Europe on the cards. West Ham United will reportedly sign the player after sealing an agreement with the Brazilian club over a package worth £15 million.

London calling

West Ham United’s interest in Fabricio Bruno is understandable. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a centre-back in the last few months amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Nayef Aguerd. In addition, Angelo Ogbonna is well into his thirties and approaching the final phase of his career.

So, it behoves West Ham to invest in a centre-back, with Bruno emerging as a viable target. They have now agreed on the transfer package for the 28-year-old Brazilian international. The base fee will be worth £12.5 million, with add-ons bringing the overall value to £15 million.

Bruno will thus arrive in London in the summer transfer window, with West Ham United agreeing on the deal to secure his services. It will be interesting to see if his career remains on an upward trajectory in the upcoming season.
