Everton in transfer tussle to sign Jan-Niklas Beste

Everton have reportedly submitted an enquiry to sign 25-year-old German winger Jan-Niklas Beste from Bundesliga club FC Heidenheim.

According to reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Jan-Niklas Beste is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are one of five clubs that have submitted enquiries to sign the FC Heidenheim winger. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club will demand around €10 million to part ways with the 25-year-old, although a deal in the region of €5-7 million might be possible.

Who is Jan-Niklas Beste?

Jan-Niklas Beste has gone from strength to strength since leaving Borussia Dortmund. A native of Hamm, he spent most of his formative years with the Black and Yellows before graduating from the Bundesliga club’s youth division several years ago. Meanwhile, the German winger had to wait until he sealed a move to FC Heidenheim nearly two years ago.

The 25-year-old played his part as Heidenheim clinched a mid-table finish in the Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season. Beste contributed to 22 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net eight times while providing 14 assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress at FC Heidenheim has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs.

Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Fiorentina, Genoa, Galatasaray, and Villarreal. However, Everton will aim to bring the FC Heidenheim winger to the Premier League after a long spell in the Bundesliga. And the Toffees have already submitted an enquiry to secure his services in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Everton’s interest in Jan-Niklas Beste is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a wide attacker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Jack Harrison. While they are confident of sealing a permanent deal for Harrison, the club will keep their options open.

Several attackers, including Kasey McAteer, feature on Everton’s radar. However, Beste is also a viable target for the Merseyside club. Heidenheim will demand around €10 million to part ways with the 25-year-old winger, although a deal worth €5-7 million might be possible.

However, the German winger wants a move within the Bundesliga instead of joining Everton or some other foreign suitor. So, the Toffees might need to look elsewhere to bolster their attack in the summer transfer window.
