Manchester United could pursue Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah if they land Mauricio Pochettino

Manchester United could push for the signature of Chelsea duo Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah if they appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new boss.

According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester United could end up making a move for the services of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah in the upcoming transfer window. The duo’s future at Chelsea is uncertain, and the Red Devils could make the most of the situation if they end up appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their next boss.

The Red Devils recently defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Despite that win, the future of their manager Erik ten Hag is not certain. The club could still end up sacking the Dutch manager as they are satisfied with the work he has done during the 2023/24 season.

If Manchester United do end up sanctioning the departure of the former Ajax manager, Pochettino is one of the names they could go after. With the Argentine ending his stay at Chelsea with mutual consent last week, he has become a big candidate for the job at Old Trafford.

Manchester United to push for Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah

Pochettino’s arrival at Manchester United could result in them pushing for the signature of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah, who were both an important part of his plans at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher might have been an integral part of their first team in the 2023/24 season. But he might not have a future at the club. His contract runs out in 2025 and renewal talks have reached a standstill. As a result, the Blues could look to cash in on him.

Chalobah struggled with injuries in the first half of the season. But he was a regular under Pochettino post his return to full fitness. However, the homegrown defender is not in their plans moving ahead, and a departure could be on the cards.

The Blues might need to sell a few of their stars before June 30 to avoid breaching Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. Gallagher and Chalobah are both homegrown players and their departure would mean pure profit for them which could be of great help for them to balance their books.

With the homegrown duo potential available, Manchester United could push for their signatures if they do end up appointing Pochettino as their next manager.
