Fulham submit €8 million offer to sign Silas Katompa Mvumpa

Fulham recently offered €8 million to sign Silas Katompa Mvumpa from VfB Stuttgart, with the Bundesliga club demanding €15-16 million to sell him.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Silas Katompa Mvumpa is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers have lodged an offer worth €8 million to sign the 25-year-old VfB Stuttgart winger. However, the Bundesliga club will demand around €15-16 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.

The Silas Katompa Mvumpa story

Silas Katompa Mvumpa, better known as Silas, has endured an intriguing life thus far. The DR Congo international went by the name of Silas Wamangituka when he joined VfB Stuttgart from Paris FC in August 2019. But the Bundesliga club corrected that in June 2021 after the player brought the issue to their notice, even correcting his date of birth.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has come leaps and bounds at VfB Stuttgart, playing his part in the club’s top-four finish in the Bundesliga this season. He chipped in with seven goals and five assists in 30 appearances across all competitions. However, Silas’s stint with Die Schwaben will likely end in the summer transfer window.

The former Paris FC winger was a target for Fulham in the winter transfer window before a move failed to materialise. However, the Cottagers have not ended their interest in the wide attacker and will return to the table in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Fulham’s continued interest in Silas Katompa Mvumpa is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a winger heading into the summer transfer window. While Willian is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the final phase of his glittering career, Harry Wilson has been inconsistent for the West London club.

So, Marco Silva needs more options in his offensive department, thus bringing the VfB Stuttgart winger on Fulham’s radar. The Cottagers have now offered €8 million to sign the 25-year-old from the Bundesliga club. However, while Stuttgart will listen to bids for the player, they want around €15-16 million to part ways with him.

So, the initial bid from Fulham should fail. It will be interesting to see if they are ready to raise their offer to secure Silas’s services in the summer transfer window. However, their first proposal worth €8 million will unlikely yield the desired result.
