Chelsea identify four-man shortlist for summer exodus

Chelsea are all set to part ways with as many as four first-team stars in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to a report from Football Insider, Chelsea are urgently looking to balance their finances and are considering offloading several players to address the issue. The London club have identified a four-man shortlist for a summer exodus at Stamford Bridge.

They are willing to sanction the departure of Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, Ian Maatsen, and Armando Broja. It could help them raise significant funds which will not only help avoid any financial breach, but it will also allow them to once again spend big in the summer.

Mauricio Pochettino was brought into the club last summer to get them back on track. Despite the poor start to the season, things did improve towards the end for Chelsea but the Argentine manager still ended up parting ways with the club. His ideas were not in line with the ownership and the differences were the reason for the separation.

Chelsea ready to sell key players in the summer

While Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah were considered key players under the charge of Pochettino, with the former Tottenham boss no longer at the club, they are looking to sanction their departures.

Gallagher has played almost every minute for them this season, despite that the London club are ready to sell him if an interested club puts forward a significant offer. Chalobah might have struggled because of injuries but a move elsewhere could do wonders for his career.

The duo’s departure could help save the London club from any potential breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. They are homegrown talents, meaning they will be counted as pure profit on their books.

Apart from their academy graduates, they are also looking to sanction the departure of Maatsen and Broja. The duo have been on loan during the second half of the season and they could end up leaving the club upon their return in a month.

The full-back wants to continue at Borussia Dortmund having reached the Champions League final with them this season. While Broja hasn’t had the best of loan spells at Fulham, there is still interest in his services. The 22-year-old striker could look for a permanent move away from the club in the summer.
