Jadon Sancho is reportedly increasingly unlikely to complete a permanent move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund will pay Manchester United extra money after reaching the UEFA Champions League final. However, a permanent move might not be on the cards due to the Premier League club’s asking price to sell the English international in the summer transfer window.
Jadon Sancho and a happy return to his former stomping ground
Jadon Sancho has enjoyed a happy resurgence since returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United in the winter transfer window. While the 24-year-old has managed only three goals and three assists in 20 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, he has considerably impacted the gameplay with his exploits.
Meanwhile, at Manchester United, the Englishman was a lost figure after failing to establish a foothold in the first-team squad. A run-in with Erik ten Hag at the onset of the 2023/24 season meant the Dutchman banished him from the senior setup. After spending a few months on the sidelines, he rejoined his former club.
Sancho’s performances and impact in the final third have convinced Borussia Dortmund to try and complete a permanent move in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Black and Yellows will cough up extra money after reaching the UEFA Champions League final due to clauses in the loan agreement with Manchester United.
A permanent move possible?
As for a possible permanent move, things are complicated on that front due to Manchester United’s asking price, which has left Borussia Dortmund concerned. Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is eager to complete a permanent move to the Signal Iduna Park in the summer transfer window.
However, the report by Sky Sport Germany has suggested that Sancho is increasingly unlikely to complete a permanent return to his former club. Borussia Dortmund will also look to convert Ian Maatsen’s loan deal, meaning funds to secure a similar arrangement for Sancho might not be available.
Recent reports have suggested that a move can see the light of day if the English international takes a pay cut. So, it will be interesting to see if Sancho leaves Manchester United to complete a permanent return to his former club in the coming weeks.
