Aston Villa, West Ham United vying for Viktor Tsygankov

Aston Villa and West Ham United are among the suitors to sign Viktor Tsygankov ahead of the summer from Girona.

According to Fichajes, Viktor Tsygankov has massive interest coming from the Premier League, with Aston Villa and West Ham United vying for his signature. The Girona star may see the idea of coming to England as attractive. But all eyes will be on the high-flying La Liga club and their final decision on the winger.

Viktor Tsygankov to the Premier League?

Viktor Tsygankov was a relatively unknown player even after Girona signed him for €5 million from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer. He has since proven integral to the Spanish side’s quest this season, where they challenged for the title. However, they are eventually set to finish third in La Liga and play UEFA Champions League football next season.

Come the summer, Girona might lose many of their top performers, including Tsygankov. The 26-year-old has had a productive season with six goals and as many assists in 29 appearances in the league. But he already has English suitors chasing his signature. Aston Villa and West Ham are the sides keen on the Ukrainian, although the final decision will rest with Girona on whether they want to sell.

Transfermarkt values Tsygankov at €28 million, which is a substantial bump from the €5 million Girona paid. If he is sold for a fee close to that valuation, the Spanish side will make a massive profit. Aston Villa is in the market for a new right winger, as they were linked with an ambitious move for Michael Olise.

West Ham are also keen to bolster their attacking setup, and a winger is high on their agenda. A few names have been mentioned in the media, with Tsygankov the latest on that list. For the projected price point, the Hammers might consider the 26-year-old winger as an option, with his productive style certainly suiting theirs.

Will Girona sell Tsygankov?

As mentioned earlier, should Girona get offers close to his market value, then selling Tsygankov would make plenty of sense financially. However, they will be keen on keeping hold of their best players, which the Ukrainian is. Barcelona are also interested in the winger, and hence, it is clear there’s plenty of opportunity for the La Liga side to make a good sale.

However, a sale would also depend on how many other players Girona loses, as they would not want a clear-out of sorts. Hence, any decision will depend on multiple factors, most importantly the financial ones.
