Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 26-year-old Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov from fellow La Liga club Girona if Raphinha leaves this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Viktor Tsygankov is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The 26-year-old has enjoyed an excellent La Liga campaign thus far with Girona. And the Blaugrana will look to secure his services if Raphinha leaves in the summer transfer window.
Viktor Tsygankov has made considerable progress since joining Girona from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2023. The Ukrainian international spent his formative years in his country, rising through the ranks at Dynamo Kyiv before breaking into the first-team squad nearly a decade ago.
The move to Girona has served the 26-year-old well, as he has been one of the contributors to the Catalan outfit’s success in the last 12 months. While the numbers do not reflect his contribution (the player has six goals and four assists in 29 appearances across all competitions), Tsygankov is one of the reasons Girona challenged for the title for most of the 2023/24 La Liga campaign.
Meanwhile, Tsygankov’s progress at Girona FC has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked him with European heavyweights like Bayern Munich and Barcelona. And the latter might launch the offensive to secure the services of the Girona winger soon.
Barcelona’s interest in Viktor Tsgyankov is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions are planning for the summer transfer window amid their crippling financial situation. The Blaugrana might have to part ways with a few high-value assets to fund moves for multiple signings.
That has brought Raphinha into the picture as a potential candidate to face the axe. Barcelona can recoup a sizeable sum from Raphinha’s departure while likely funding two signings. Tsygankov has thus emerged as a viable target to replace the Brazilian international at the Catalan club.
