West Ham United formulating offer to sign Simon Banza, lead race

West Ham United will soon present a bid worth €25 million to sign French-born DR Congo international striker Simon Banza from SC Braga.

According to a report by O Jogo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Simon Banza is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window. And they are ready to submit a bid worth €25 million to sign the French-born attacker from SC Braga.

The rise and rise of Simon Banza

Simon Banza has been a solid performer for SC Braga since arriving from RC Lens in July 2022. Born in Creil, he spent his formative years in France but chose DR Congo as his national side. However, the DR Congo international had to wait until he moved to Portugal to find a stable footing in his career.

The 27-year-old has been exceptional in the 2023/24 season, amassing 23 goals and five assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Banza’s progress at SC Braga has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including West Ham United.

London calling?

West Ham United will delve into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window. Michail Antonio has been a solid performer for the East London club for several years. However, he is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the final phase of his storied career.

In addition, Danny Ings has failed to make his mark since joining West Ham from Aston Villa. So, it behoves the East London club to sign a striker in the summer transfer window, with Simon Banza emerging as a viable target. And a bid is on the cards from West Ham.

The report by O Jogo (h/t Sport Witness) has claimed that the Hammers lead the race to sign the French-born African striker. West Ham will submit a bid worth €25 million to secure the services of the DR Congo international.

It is unclear if a bid worth €25 million does the trick and brings Banza to the London Stadium. However, his stint with SC Braga might end soon, with West Ham United keen on signing him in the summer transfer window.
