Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are reportedly looking to beat Real Madrid to 18-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Leny Yoro is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. However, the Merengues are no closer to landing the LOSC Lille defender, valued at £90 million. Such a situation has alerted Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United to a possible hijack heading into the summer transfer window.
The rise and rise of Leny Yoro
Leny Yoro has become one of the most sought-after defenders in the world since breaking into the first-team squad at LOSC Lille as a 16-year-old. The Frenchman has become a pivotal figure for Les Dogues this season despite still being in his teens.
The 18-year-old has amassed more than 3,500 minutes of game time thus far this season across 43 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with three goals. Meanwhile, Yoro’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.
A man in demand
Real Madrid’s interest in Yoro is understandable, considering David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are on the wrong side of 30. In addition, Nacho will leave Los Blancos as a free agent, thus opening up a spot in the defensive department. However, with a move not close to completion, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are plotting a hijack.
The Premier League clubs might have an added incentive, with the latest report claiming Real Madrid will not pursue Leny Yoro in the summer transfer window. Chelsea will look to fill Thiago Silva’s void this summer, with the LOSC Lille defender emerging as a viable target for the West London club.
As for Manchester United, Raphael Varane will depart from Old Trafford as a free agent in the summer transfer window. In addition, Jonny Evans faces an uncertain future at Manchester United. Meanwhile, Manchester City’s interest in the Frenchman is perplexing, considering Pep Guardiola has several centre-backs in his squad. However, Manchester City can afford his price tag of £90 million.
The report has claimed that Lille will demand £90 million to part ways with Yoro in the summer transfer window. However, a deal worth £50 million might be enough to secure the youngster’s services. So, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City are ready to cough up the big sums to beat Real Madrid to his signature.
