Manchester City want €40 million to sell Yan Couto

Manchester City are willing to sell Yan Couto in the summer window to bank on his current market value, with Real Madrid keen.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City are willing to sell Yan Couto in the summer, and would demand €40 million for the right-back. The 21-year-old defender has attracted plenty of attention following an impressive season with Girona, with Real Madrid among those keen.

Manchester City to sell Yan Couto?

Yan Couto has undoubtedly made a significant impact while on loan to Girona. Manchester City took full advantage of their multi-club model to send the 21-year-old defender to their other club in Spain, and the move has reaped its rewards, with the right-back now reportedly valued at around €40 million.

Manchester City are willing to sell Couto for €40 million in the summer and maximise its market value after that stellar season. The 21-year-old defender managed a single goal and 10 assists for Girona, as his parent club are eager to cash in now rather than integrate him into Pep Guardiola’s primary group.

There are some concerns about Kyle Walker’s age and Bayern Munich rekindling their interest ahead of the summer. Yet, Manchester City reportedly believe in the England international to continue to play at his best levels and are willing to sell their promising 21-year-old defender to the best suitor for the said price.

Whether clubs will pay that much for a player with probably a good season under his belt remains the question. Manchester City might be open to the idea of negotiating the price but certainly is in the mood to cash in now rather than bank on him to become a performing star for their team in the future.

Real Madrid among those keen on Couto

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly approved of the idea of signing Couto in the summer. The Spanish giants are looking for a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal and could look to buy a young star and steadily integrate him into the role.

Couto also has the attention of Bayern Leverkusen and Juventus, although there are significant doubts whether either club will pay the €40 million asking price put forward by Manchester City. Hence, the Premier League side might find it challenging to find the kind of buyer to spend that much money for the 21-year-old defender, who barely has any experience despite that stellar campaign with Girona.
