West Ham United considering Joselu swoop

West Ham United could sound out a move to Joselu to join them this summer, as he could return to Espanyol when his fabulous Real Madrid loan ends.

According to Give Me Sport, Joselu has emerged as a target for West Ham United ahead of the summer transfer window. The Hammers are eager to bring an experienced centre-forward in the window to aid incoming manager Julen Lopetegui for the new campaign.

West Ham eye Joselu swoop

West Ham United are keen to add a new striker to their squad in the summer and might target an experienced head to the equation. There is a need to freshen up their strike force with someone young and hungry attacker. But the experience part is also vital, especially for Julen Lopetegui.

The Spaniard will take charge of the club once the season finishes and David Moyes formally leaves, with Joselu now being eyed as a target. The 34-year-old only made a massive contribution to Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League pursuit, scoring two late goals and taking his team to the final in Wembley to take his tally for the season to 16 goals.

His contractual situation is a little sensitive, given he is only on loan at Real Madrid. But the Spaniard has proven his worth with his contributions this season. He does want to stay there on a permanent basis, but things could change should a vital offer, such as from West Ham, arrive, and he gets his chance to return to the Premier League.

The Hammers hierarchy might part ways with Danny Ings, and the Real Madrid attacker could be seen as a direct replacement for the Englishman. Joselu will return to Espanyol in the summer, and he will have a year left on his deal. Apart from West Ham, there are other English sides keen on the striker, too.

Joselu’s future at Real Madrid

Joselu made a significant mark on Real Madrid’s audiences as he scored those late goals to take the team to the UEFA Champions League final. Florentino Perez might consider signing him permanently. But given his age, the club might pursue other options.

Joselu does want to stay at the Bernabeu. But circumstances could change, as there are some other sides keen to take him on board. Girona are interested, while Manchester United are also mentioned in the race for the Spanish international. Still, he will likely stay where he is now and sign a permanent deal with Real Madrid in the summer.
