Joselu would lean towards a permanent switch to Real Madrid over joining Manchester United, which is interested in the veteran striker.

According to Defensa Central, Joselu might snub the interest coming from elsewhere, including that of Manchester United, to stick with Real Madrid. The on-loan Espanyol striker has a modest clause in his contract, with the 34-year-old keen on a permanent switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Joselu wants Real Madrid stay

Joselu was a surprise name for many when Real Madrid chose to bring the Espanyol striker on a loan deal. He has been performing well for the Catalan side and could not say no to the prospect of joining the Spanish Capital giants when the opportunity arrived.

While he’s not a sure starter under Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian manager knows how to utilise the 34-year-old’s talents, which has yielded 13 13-goals this season for the Spaniard. Hence, Ancelotti might be open to keeping him, as the experienced striker does bring something different to his squad.

Joselu has Manchester United’s interest, with the Red Devils looking for a stop-gap attacking option to complement and support Rasmus Hojlund up front. Despite the Premier League giants looking at him, as well as Fiorentina, as per the report, the 13-goal Spaniard wants to stay at the Bernabeu.

Earlier in the season, he was ready to pay his own exit clause worth a reported €1.5 million and join Real Madrid permanently. He might not have to go to that lengths to make it happen, as the club might trigger the option to sign him on a permanent basis in the summer.

Joselu’s future at Real Madrid

When he signed, many thought Real Madrid signed him as a replacement for Karim Benzema. As it turns out, the Spaniard is more of an impact player than anything, with Ancelotti utilising his talents well during the season. The 13-goal Spaniard seems utterly content with his situation and might want to continue here.

While credible reports are stating Kylian Mbappe would join the club, it does threaten the careers of players like Joselu. However, considering his current role under Ancelotti and the output he’s been producing, Real Madrid would see the wisdom in keeping a player of the 34-year-old’s quality, meaning the striker might have secured his future in the squad for next season.
