Fulham revive interest in Lucas Ocampos

Fulham are set to revive their interest in Lucas Ocampos ahead of the summer, with Sevilla ready to sell the Argentine.

According to Vamos Sevilla FC, Fulham are keen on Lucas Ocampos and are ready to revive their interest in the 29-year-old Argentine forward. Sevilla are ready to sell the attacker, who remains happy at the club, although their financial problems can take precedence.

Fulham to revive Lucas Ocampos pursuit

Fulham had been looking for a new striker last summer to replace Aleksandar Mitrovic. They did manage to sign Raul Jimenez early in the window but kept searching for another marksman. Lucas Ocampos was one of their targets then, but the Cottagers could not narrow down a deal with Sevilla.

Luckily for them, Rodrigo Muniz has stepped up and, in recent months, has become their first-choice central striker. Heading into the new season, Marco Silva might retain Muniz in the leading role but would want additional support, probably to replace Jimenez, who has underperformed this season.

The Cottagers are planning on going back to Sevilla for Ocampos, with the 29-year-old Argentine forward set to become available in the market. Ocampos has had an indifferent season, as he has not managed to score based on his actual quality, although the entire team has suffered during the current campaign.

Sevilla are hoping Fulham make a similar offer they did last summer, although the Cottagers might probably push through with a lower bid considering the 29-year-old Argentine forward’s contractual situation. With the Spanish club in financial troubles and Ocampos having a year left, Fulham may offer a low bid and will stay confident of pushing it over the line.

Sevilla to sell Ocampos?

Sevilla are hoping to make the best of the next window and bring in some much-needed funds through player sales. Former Leeds United director Victor Orta, now at the Spanish club, has a tough job on his hands and has reportedly placed every player on sale, including Ocampos and some of their other notable stars.

As per Transfermarkt, Ocampos only has a transfer value of €12 million. But that may have had an effect due to the time remaining on his Sevilla contract. In any case, a team like Fulham will likely offer around that mark to try and bring him to London and add him as an important part of their attacking setup.
