Marco Silva’s Fulham are closing in on the signatures of the 29-year-old Sevilla right-winger Lucas Ocampos.

According to a report by La Colina de Nervion, Fulham are keen on having Lucas Ocampos in their ranks before the end of the transfer window and could already have an agreement in place with Sevilla. The Cottagers are looking to bolster their attack post the departure of Aleksandar Mitrović and the 29-year-old could be a great addition to their ranks.

The Argentine international joined the Spanish club back in the summer of 2019. Since making the move to Spain, he has been an important part of their first team. In the initial years, he was a regular but over the past two seasons, the story hasn’t been the same.

Ocampos was unlikely to get much game time at Sevilla last season. As a result, they decided to send him out on a short loan to Ajax. But, things didn’t go according to plan as he featured in a total of just six matches and ended up returning to his parent club in the winter break.

Post the winter break, he got a few opportunities at Sevilla and managed to impress. The 29-year-old played an important role in the team towards the end of last season. And, he has already featured in four matches this season with over 300 minutes of game time.

While the Argentine international is a key player for the Spanish club in the new season, he could still end up parting ways with them in the coming days. Ocampos’ contract runs out in the summer of 2024. And, with less than a year left, Sevilla could look to cash in on him rather than lose out on him for free next summer.

Fulham are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. The departure of Mitrović to the Saudi Pro League has injected funds into the club and they are looking to make full use of it to bolster their squad. One of their key targets is the 29-year-old.

The Cottagers have been in talks with the Spanish club and according to the report, the two clubs could have an agreement in place for the transfer of the Argentine international. If things go according to plan, Ocampos could join Fulham in the coming days.
