Crystal Palace considering Elijah Adebayo swoop

Crystal Palace will reportedly look to poach 26-year-old English striker Elijah Adebayo from Luton Town in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Elijah Adebayo is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The 26-year-old striker might leave Luton Town in the summer transfer window if the Hatters get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2023/24 season. Other clubs, including Bournemouth, are also keen on signing the Luton attacker.

Elijah Adebayo and his solid spell with Luton Town

Elijah Adebayo has been a top-class signing for Luton Town since arriving from Fulham in February 2021. A native of London, he spent his formative years in the capital, rising through the ranks at Fulham before graduating from the West London club’s youth division.

However, the Englishman could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Fulham, embarking on multiple loan moves before completing a permanent transfer to Luton Town. While the 26-year-old has never been prolific in the final third apart from his first full season, he has enjoyed a solid 2023/24 campaign.

Adebayo has found the back of the net ten times in 25 Premier League appearances, forming a top-notch strike partnership with Carlton Morris. However, the London native faces an uncertain future at Luton Town amid the Hatters’ struggles to retain their Premier League status. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Crystal Palace.

A return to London on the horizon?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Elijah Adebayo is understandable. The South London club will likely delve into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window. While Jean-Philippe Mateta has been superb in the last few weeks, Odsonne Edouard has failed to make his mark.

So, it behoves Crystal Palace to invest in a productive striker, with Adebayo emerging as a viable target. The Eagles also have several other candidates on their radar, including Tammy Abraham. Eddie Nketiah is another option for Crystal Palace, but the Luton Town attacker is an attractive alternative.

The 26-year-old striker will likely leave Luton Town if they cannot avoid relegation, even though Rob Edwards wants him to stay at Kenilworth Road, irrespective of the Hatters’ fate this term. It will be interesting to see if the Englishman joins Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.
