Chelsea are prepared to offer Napoli star Victor Osimhen a contract worth €10 million a year to entice him to join the club in the summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness, Chelsea are ready to break the bank to ensure they land their priority target Victor Osimhen at the club ahead of next season. The Napoli striker has been on their radar for a long while and they are willing to do everything in their power to sign him.
Osimhen has gone from strength to strength since joining Napoli back in the summer of 2020. He has featured in a total of 130 matches for the Italian outfit so far and has contributed towards 93 goals (75 goals, 18 assists).
The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best forwards in world football at this point in time. He had an exceptional season last time out where he scored 31 goals and guided Napoli to their first league title in three decades.
This time around he has scored 16 goals and has also bagged four assists. His impressive performances have attracted a lot of interest from across Europe. While his contract with the Italian club runs until the summer of 2026, he is expected to be on the move in the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea want to sign Osimhen
Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been monitoring him for a long while. The Blues want to sign a new number nine on a priority basis in the summer and Osimhen is at the top of their wishlist. They feel he could be an ideal fit for their club and help revive them.
The Nigerian international has a release clause between €120 to €130 million. But, interested clubs are not looking to trigger it, they are looking for ways to lower it. Chelsea are ready to include a player in the deal to lower the price.
Since the Blues do not have Champions League football to offer which other interest clubs like PSG can offer, the London club are looking to make an offer that suits both the player and the club.
They are ready to offer Osimhen wages worth €10 million net per year. The London club are ready to table an offer worth €80 million plus Romelu Lukaku in exchange for Osimhen’s services.
Lukaku is currently on loan at AS Roma and he is having an exceptional season with the Serie A outfit. This will see Napoli raise significant funds and get a replacement for Osimhen. But, it will be interesting to see if the Naples-based club are interested in such a deal.
