Atletico Madrid demanding €60 million to sell Joao Felix

Atletico Madrid will demand around €60 million to sell Joao Felix in the summer transfer window, thus complicating Barcelona’s prospects of landing him.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Barcelona will face an uphill task to secure the services of Joao Felix in a permanent deal. Atletico Madrid will demand around €60 million to part ways with the 24-year-old attacker. So, remaining at the Civitas Metropolitano beyond the summer transfer window might be possible.

Joao Felix and a mixed bag of a loan spell at FC Barcelona

Joao Felix was not a happy camper at Atletico Madrid before Barcelona signed him on Deadline Day in last summer’s transfer window. The Portuguese international had a few run-ins with Diego Simeone regarding his role and involvement in the first-team squad. That had made him ‘persona non grata’ for the Atletico Madrid manager.

Felix hit the ground running after joining Barcelona, scoring a few crucial goals in the early stages of the 2023/24 season. However, the 24-year-old has seen his stock fall in the last few months, with Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski being the three first-choice attackers for Barcelona.

The Atletico Madrid loanee has not had a dreadful season thus far, having contributed to 16 goals in 41 appearances thus far. He has found the back of the net ten times while providing six assists. However, Felix has still not fulfilled the tremendous potential he possesses. So, with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal outperforming him, he has lost his spot in the starting lineup.

What will happen with Felix this summer?

Despite his falling stature in the Barcelona first team, the Catalan giants have been working on a deal to permanently sign Joao Felix in the summer transfer window. However, securing the player’s services might be beyond Barcelona’s means, with Atletico Madrid slapping a price tag of €60 million on him.

Recent reports have suggested that Barcelona might pay around half that sum to sign Felix in a permanent deal in the summer transfer window. That complicates the matter for the Blaugrana amid the never-ending financial turmoil at the club.

It is highly unlikely that Barcelona will cough up €60 million to permanently sign Felix unless they offload multiple high-value assets. So, staying at Atletico Madrid beyond the summer transfer window is possible, with the Colchoneros planning talks with the 24-year-old attacker once he returns from his loan spell.
