Chelsea establish contact over move for Tosin Adarabioyo

Chelsea recently established contact over a possible summer move for 26-year-old Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, a target for Newcastle United.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside, Tosin Adarabioyo is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The 26-year-old will leave Fulham as a free agent in the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United also interested in securing his services in a Bosman move. However, the Blues have asked to be kept informed about any movements surrounding him.

Tosin Adarabioyo and his Fulham stint

Tosin Adarabioyo has established himself as a pivotal figure for Fulham since arriving from Manchester City in a cut-price deal in September 2020. The Englishman has found a stable footing in his career in the last four years, going from strength to strength at the heart of the West London club’s backline.

The 26-year-old has turned out 132 times thus far for Fulham, chipping in with five goals and two assists. However, Adarabioyo does not have a future at Craven Cottage beyond the 2023/24 season, with his contract with the West London club expiring on July 1. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

A move across the Premier League is on the cards, with several well-known outfits setting their sights on him. Recent reports have heavily linked the Manchester native with Newcastle United. However, a short move within West London might be on the cards, with Chelsea also interested in him.

Move across Premier League on the horizon?

Chelsea’s interest in Tosin Adarabioyo is understandable. The West London club will lose Thiago Silva as a free agent in the coming weeks, with the veteran Brazilian moving to his homeland. In addition, Trevoh Chalobah faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. So, the Fulham centre-back has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea. And the Blues have now established contact over a possible move.

As for Newcastle United, recent reports have suggested they have an advantage in the race to sign him. The 26-year-old can be a regular at the heart of the Newcastle United defence, making St. James’ Park an attractive destination for the Englishman.

With Chelsea stepping up the efforts to secure Adarabioyo’s services, a summer move might be on the cards. It will be interesting to see if the Blues can beat Newcastle United to the English defender’s signature, even though he is reportedly leaning towards moving to St. James’ Park.
