Everton in transfer tussle to sign Justin Njinmah

Everton will compete with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Villarreal, and others for 23-year-old Werder Bremen winger Justin Njinmah.

According to a report by German outlet Kicker, Justin Njinmah is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window. But they will face stiff competition from several other clubs for the 23-year-old Werder Bremen winger.

Who is Justin Njinmah?

Justin Njinmah has been looking for stability in his career since turning professional a few years ago. A native of Hamburg, he spent his formative years with several German clubs before Altona and Eimsbutteler TV before graduating from the Holstein Kiel youth division. Meanwhile, the player joined Werder Bremen in July 2021.

The 23-year-old has taken some time to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Werder Bremen, with a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund II helping his cause. However, Njinmah has gone in and out of the starting lineup at the Bundesliga club this season, managing only 1,012 minutes of game time thus far, chipping in with six goals and two assists in 24 outings.

Despite being in and out of the starting lineup, Werder Bremen will look to keep hold of Njinmah by handing him a new contract. However, the German winger wants to embark on a new adventure, with several Bundesliga and La Liga clubs keen on securing his services. However, his next destination might be the Premier League, with Everton interested in him.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Everton’s interest in Justin Njinmah is understandable. The Toffees do not have much quality in the wide attacking slots apart from Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison. However, the latter is at Goodison Park on a loan move, with his continuity beyond this season not certain despite his willingness to extend his stay at Everton.

Everton will likely look to bolster the attack in the summer transfer window, with the club showing interest in several players, including Anton Matkovic. However, the Toffees face stiff competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Villarreal, and a few Bundesliga clubs for Njinmah’s signature.

It will be interesting to see if Everton can beat the competition to secure Justin Njinmah’s services in the summer transfer window. For now, the 23-year-old Werder Bremen winger has emerged as a viable target for the Merseyside club.
