Hull City will reportedly demand around £15 million to part ways with 23-year-old centre-back Jacob Greaves, a target for West Ham United.
According to a report by Football Insider, Jacob Greaves is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The 23-year-old might leave Hull City in the summer transfer window, with West Ham opening preliminary talks to secure his services. The Tigers want £15 million to part ways with the centre-back in the coming months.
Who is Jacob Greaves?
Jacob Greaves has been one of the best centre-backs in the EFL Championship this season. A native of Cottingham, he joined Hull City as an eight-year-old in 2008 before rising through the ranks at the club. The Englishman made his first-team debut in October 2020, benefitting from a loan spell at Cheltenham Town.
The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last four years, becoming a mainstay at the back for Hull City. Greaves has turned out 176 times thus far for the Tigers, chipping in with six goals and eight assists. In addition, he has yet to see red in any of his 211 outings as a senior footballer.
Meanwhile, Greaves’s progress at his boyhood club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known Premier League clubs. And West Ham United will look to prise him away from Hull City in the summer transfer window. The Tigers want £15 million to part ways with the English centre-back.

West Ham United’s interest in Jacob Greaves is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Nayef Aguerd. In addition, Angelo Ogbonna is well into his thirties and approaching the end of his career.
Some reports have also linked Kurt Zouma with a summer departure, with Saudi Pro League clubs interested in him. So, it behoves West Ham to sign a young and promising centre-back, with Greaves emerging as a viable target. And they should have the funds to afford a deal worth £15 million for the 23-year-old Englishman.
Greaves still has over two years left on his contract with Hull City before it runs out. So, a price tag of £15 million is acceptable for a centre-back who has his best years ahead of him. It will be interesting to see if he joins West Ham in the coming months.
