Real Betis, Sevilla vying for Barcelona prodigy Vitor Roque

Local Andalusian rivals Real Betis and Sevilla are reportedly keen on signing 19-year-old Brazilian sensation Vitor Roque from Barcelona.

According to a report by ABC, as relayed by Barca Centre, Vitor Roque might leave Barcelona on loan in the summer transfer window. Andalusian clubs Real Betis and Sevilla are interested in the 19-year-old attacking sensation. The two La Liga clubs are keen on landing the Barcelona striker on loan in the coming months.

How has Vitor Roque fared at Barcelona?

Vitor Roque has struggled to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at FC Barcelona since arriving from Athletico Paranaense in January 2024. The Brazilian international was the talk of the town after breaking into the senior setup at Athletico PR. His stock then skyrocketed when he guided Brazil to the under-20 South American Championships.

The youngster also won the Campeonato Paranaense with Athletico PR last year. The 19-year-old became a target for most European bigwigs before Barcelona won the race to sign him. However, the player has managed only 310 minutes of game time across 13 appearances in all competitions thus far for Barcelona.

Vitor Roque’s struggles for Barcelona have created speculation surrounding his short-term future. Widespread reports have claimed that a loan move in the summer transfer window might be on the cards for the teenage sensation. And the Barcelona wonderkid has emerged as a target for Real Betis and Sevilla.

Loan move across La Liga on the horizon?

Real Betis can do with a young attacker amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Borja Iglesias. The Spanish international might depart from the Benito Villamarin Stadium in the summer transfer window. As for Sevilla, Youssef En-Nesyri faces an uncertain future at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

So, it is hardly surprising that the two La Liga rivals have set their sights on the 19-year-old Barcelona prospect heading into the summer transfer window. However, the Brazilian whizkid does not want to leave Barcelona anytime soon despite his struggles for game time.

It will be interesting to see if Real Betis or Sevilla can turn Vitor Roque’s head in the coming weeks as we approach the summer transfer window. Unless that happens, the 19-year-old will likely remain at FC Barcelona heading into the 2024/25 season.
