Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United vying for Carlos Baleba

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing 20-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Carlos Baleba has become the talk of the town in the Premier League. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are showing interest in the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder. Meanwhile, the English bigwigs need to fork out £55 million to secure the services of the 20-year-old prospect.

Who is Carlos Baleba?

Carlos Baleba has not taken long to become a critical member of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad at Brighton & Hove Albion. A native of Douala, he spent most of his formative years in his homeland but rose in prominence during his short stint with LOSC Lille, which lasted 18 months.

The Cameroonian midfielder encountered a few teething problems but has grown in stature in the last few months. Such has been Baleba’s rise that he is now a regular for Brighton & Hove Albion, filling the void left by the departure of Moises Caicedo. The 20-year-old has racked up nearly 1,500 minutes of game time in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, and several high-profile Premier League clubs are keen on signing him. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are his prospective suitors. Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion want £55 million to part ways with Baleba in the summer transfer window.

Move across Premier League on the cards?

Arsenal’s interest in Carlos Baleba is understandable. Thomas Partey and Jorginho face an uncertain future at the Emirates, with the North London club already setting the asking price for the former. So, it behoves Arsenal to invest in a midfielder in the summer transfer window, with the Brighton whizkid emerging as a viable target.

As for Liverpool, Thiago Silva will likely depart from Anfield as a free agent in the summer transfer window. And Baleba can be the former Barcelona midfielder’s replacement at Anfield. Meanwhile, Manchester United will part ways with a few midfielders this summer, including Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek.

Baleba has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester United. The asking price might seem a bit steep. However, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United have the financial capacity to cough up £55 million to secure the Cameroonian midfielder’s services. So, it will be interesting to see if a deal sees the light of day this summer.
