Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri

Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

A report from Fichajes claims that Mikel Arteta wants the north London outfit to sign the 22-year-old Algerian defender. Ait-Nouri has established himself as a quality Premier League full-back and he should prove to be a superb addition to the Arsenal defence.

The Gunners currently have Oleksandr Zinchenko as the only reliable left-back at their disposal. Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares are expected to be sold permanently in the summer.

Signing another left-back should be one of their top priorities heading into the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can secure an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Algerian defender will be tempted to join a big club like Arsenal and he will be hoping to compete for major trophies with them. Arsenal are competing in the UEFA Champions League and they are pushing for the league title. They will be an attractive destination for most players.

The Gunners certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. The 22-year-old is still quite young and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a top class player for Arsenal in the coming seasons. Ait-Nouri has three goals and two assists to his name this season.

He has been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool as well. The Blues need an upgrade on Marc Cucurella, who has been very poor since the move from Brighton. At Liverpool, Andrew Robertson is showing signs of decline and Kostas Tsimikas is not good enough to start every week. Ait-Nouri would be a quality addition.

Rayan Ait-Nouri would improve Arsenal immensely

Arsenal will need to add more quality and depth to their defensive unit if they want to compete on all fronts. The 22-year-old seems like the ideal acquisition. He is well settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at Arsenal next season.

The Algerian defender has been quite reliable at the back this season and he has been very effective going forward. He is a more balanced full-back compared to Zinchenko and he should prove to be an upgrade on the Ukrainian international. The 22-year-old will be hoping to play regularly for Arsenal and he will look to dislodge Zinchenko from the starting lineup next season.
