Arsenal will soon intensify the efforts to sign 22-year-old Dutch attacker Joshua Zirkzee from Serie A club Bologna in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tuttosport, Joshua Zirkzee is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners have already submitted a contract worth €6 million per year to the 22-year-old attacker. Meanwhile, they are ready to step up their efforts to sign the Bologna striker in the summer transfer window.

The rise and rise of Joshua Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee has established himself as one of the best young attackers in Serie A since joining Bologna from Bayern Munich in August 2022. The Dutchman was searching for a stable footing in his career when he arrived in Italian, and joining the Rossoblu has helped him do that.

The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last two years and is now a pivotal figure for Bologna, with the club close to sealing a top-four finish. Zirkzee has contributed to 19 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions this season, finding the back of the net 12 times while providing seven assists.

Meanwhile, Zirkzee’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with many well-known outfits setting their sights on him. And Arsenal might be his next destination.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee is understandable. The Gunners are keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window in the wake of the poor output of Gabriel Jesus in the final third. So, they have set their sights on several centre-forwards, with the Bologna attacker emerging as a viable target.

Zirkzee already has a contract worth €6 million per year on his table from Arsenal. The North London giants are now ready to ramp up their efforts to sign the Dutch attacker from the Serie A club in the summer transfer window.

Several other high-profile clubs, including Juventus, are also keen on securing Zirkzee’s services in the summer transfer window. So, Arsenal’s decision to intensify the efforts to sign the 22-year-old is sensible and well-timed.
