Tottenham Hotspur are front-runners for the signatures of the 19-year-old Australian striker Thomas Waddingham.
According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of Thomas Waddingham and they are leading the race at this point in time. The 19-year-old has been in sensational form of late and his performances have resulted in interest from clubs across Europe.
Thomas Waddingham’s impressive rise
Waddingham has had an incredible last 18 months. The teenage striker has come up the ranks at Brisbane Roar. He broke onto the scene last season with his impressive performances in the Australia Cup. He found the back of the net on four occasions in his five outings in the competitions.
On the back of those performances, he was promoted to their first team ahead of the ongoing season. The 19-year-old has featured in 22 A-League games this season and has racked up close to 1,400 minutes. The teenager might not have scored too many goals in the initial fixtures but he seems to have picked up the pace in the recent past.
In his last nine league games, Waddingham has found the back of the net on five occasions, taking his overall tally to six goals and an assist. The 6’0” forward’s impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs from England are monitoring him.
Tottenham leading the race for Waddingham
The report suggests Tottenham are the ones leading the race at this stage. Their Australian boss Ange Postecoglou has been informed about the abilities of the Brisbane Roar striker by his contacts in the A-League.
The reports seem to be quite positive and the North London club are looking to take an early lead in the pursuit of his signatures. He is a traditional number and given the kind of potential the Australian has, he can surely be a great signing for the long-term.
Postecoglou has had an impressive first season at the club, the board will look to back him in the summer and he could ask the hierarchy to push for the signatures of his compatriots.
