Real Betis recently submitted an enquiry to fellow La Liga club Real Madrid for 19-year-old Turkish wonderkid Arda Guler.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Arda Guler is the subject of interest from Real Betis. The Verdiblancos are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. And they have contacted their fellow La Liga Real Madrid for the Turkish wonderkid.
Arda Guler and his Real Madrid travails
Arda Guler has endured a difficult debut season since joining Real Madrid from Fenerbahce last summer. Los Blancos shelled out €20 million to secure his services, with the transfer fee seeming like a bargain at the time. However, fitness issues have stunted the 19-year-old midfielder’s growth at the club.
The Turk has not even managed 100 minutes of game time thus far this season, scoring one goal in seven outings thus far. So, it is hardly surprising that Guler’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain heading into the summer transfer window. And a move across La Liga might be on the cards for the youngster.
Widespread reports have linked the Turkish international with several La Liga clubs, with Sevilla recently contacting Real Madrid over a possible summer move. The Andalusian giants now have local rivals Real Betis as one of their competitors in the battle for Guler’s signature.
Real Betis calling?
Real Betis also considered signing Arda Guler on loan from Real Madrid last summer. However, a move did not materialise, with Los Blancos keeping the 19-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Verdiblancos can do with a new midfielder amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Guido Rodriguez.
The Mexican international will likely depart from the Benito Villamarin Stadium as a free agent in the summer transfer window. In addition, William Carvalho is on the wrong side of 30 and might leave Real Betis this summer. So, Arda Guler has emerged as a viable target, with Real Betis contacting Real Madrid.
It is unclear if Real Madrid will loan out the Turkish international in the summer transfer window or keep him in the first-team squad. For now, the teenage prospect faces an uncertain future as we approach the summer.
