Ruben Amorim would demand a host of players in his first summer at Anfield, including two of his players from Sporting CP.
According to Fichajes, Ruben Amorim would want Liverpool to spend the summer on £120 million-rated trio Goncalo Inacio, Marcus Edwards, and Alejandro Grimaldo. The Portuguese manager wants proper reinforcements should he replace Jurgen Klopp, with the Sporting CP boss currently the favourite to do so.
Ruben Amorim wants trio at Liverpool
Ruben Amorim has been in the news for some time now, and there are rumours that he will immediately leave Sporting CP in the summer for a more significant challenge. Barcelona were linked earlier, and now Liverpool are favourites to sign the Portuguese manager to replace Jurgen Klopp, who will leave in the summer.
Liverpool may have a verbal agreement with Amorim, with many tipping the Sporting CP boss to take over at the club. Amorim has seemingly laid down his demands for the club to make their moves in the summer, as he wants £120 million-rated trio to join him at Anfield.
Two of his Sporting CP players, Marcus Edwards and defender Goncalo Inacio, are among those. Bayer Leverkusen star Alejandro Grtimaldo is the third player, and these moves are unlikely, considering Liverpool are ready to back the Portuguese manager in the market.
Goncalo Inacio is a particularly interesting option for Amorim and Liverpool, with the club lacking a left-footed centre-back. Edwards could become a solid option in the attack, particularly should Mohamed Salah depart, while Grimaldo, with his exploits at Leverkusen this season, could become a brilliant option to compete for the left-back slot.
Will Liverpool appoint Amorim as their new manager?
All the signs point towards the Reds bringing in the Portuguese tactician as their new manager in the close season. They might have prioritised Xabi Alonso, but Amorim might have been their next-best option, with the Spaniard choosing to stay at Leverkusen.
Still, there is some way to go before Liverpool publicly announces their pursuit of Amorim. Klopp will want to end the season on a high, as they are still in contention for the Premier League and Europa League titles. After the season ends, it will be a long farewell for the German at Anfield, who might welcome Amorim to usher them into a new era.
