Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are all keeping a close eye on 17-year-old Brazilian sensation Pedro Lima.
According to a report by Globo Esporte, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are all interested in the services of Pedro Lima. The 17-year-old Brazilian sensation is considered to be a huge prospect and the English giants are all keeping a close eye on him.
Pedro Lima’s rise at Sport Recife
Lima was promoted to the Sport Recife first team at the start of the year on the back of his impressive performances at the youth level. The right-back has already featured in 13 matches for the first team and also has three goal contributions.
The teenager has made a sensational start to his senior career. His impressive rise and exceptional performances have attracted a lot of attention. While top clubs from across Europe are not often linked with players from the Brazilian second division, Lima is considered to be a ‘jewel’ and there is certainly a lot of interest in his services.
Manchester City scouting the teenage full-back
Manchester City are one of the clubs that have been linked with the young full-back. Their scout Audrio Magalhaes travelled to Recife to watch the 17-year-old in action in the Campeonato Pernambucano final at the weekend.
As per the report, Magalhaes sat next to the teenager’s agent Renato Guimaraes in a VIP box at the Arena Pernambuco to watch Sport square up against Náutico.
While City are interested in the full-back, they are not the only English club that has scouted him. Liverpool and Chelsea have both recently scouted the teenager and they could challenge the treble winners for his signatures.
Both English clubs are always on the lookout for players who can help them in the long run and they feel the 17-year-old has the potential to be a special player. Meanwhile, Sport chief João Marcelo Barros has talked about the amount of interest in Lima. He said it wasn’t a surprise to see people from top clubs scouting him.
Barros said: “There’s nothing very new there. Scouts from all over the world have been watching him. Maybe the news won’t get out, but a lot of scouts have come from abroad this year.”
While his contract with the Brazilian outfit runs until the end of 2027, there is a release clause worth €12 million that could lead to his departure in the near future. €12 million is not that big a fee for a Premier League club and it will be interesting to see if either Chelsea, Liverpool or City actually make a move for the teenager after having scouted him in the recent past.
