Fulham recently “conducted surveys” for 18-year-old German-born Serbian youth international Jan-Carlo Simic amid his exploits for AC Milan.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Jan-Carlo Simic is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers face stiff competition from fellow Premier League club for the 18-year-old defender. And the two English outfits have submitted enquiries for the AC Milan defensive sensation.

Who is Jan-Carlo Simic?

Jan-Carlo Simic is one of the best young defenders in Serie A. Born in Germany, the Nurtingen native spent most of his formative years in Germany before moving to Italy in August 2022. The teenage prospect joined Serie A giants AC Milan and has come leaps and bounds in the last four years.

The 18-year-old might have spent most of his formative years in Germany. But he has chosen Serbia as his national side, having turned out for the country’s under-19 team since 2022. Meanwhile, Simic made his first-team debut for AC Milan in December 2023 and has turned out six times for the Rossoneri this season.

The youngster’s progress at the Serie A club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid. However, the latest report has linked the AC Milan defensive sensation with mid-table Premier League clubs Fulham and Bournemouth.

London Calling?

Fulham’s interest in Jan-Carlo Simic is understandable. The Cottagers are in a spot of bother over Tosin Adarabioyo’s long-term future, with the former Manchester City defender attracting interest from top clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United. While Fulham signed Calvin Bassey last summer, they can do with another centre-back.

Several candidates, including Evan Ndicka, have emerged on Fulham’s radar. However, Simic is also a viable target, with the 18-year-old having the potential to be a long-term solution for the West London club. And the Cottagers have already “conducted surveys” for the teenage prospect, with Bournemouth also doing so.

It is unclear if the 18-year-old German-born Serbian youth international is ready to leave AC Milan without establishing a foothold in the first-team squad at the Serie A club. Fulham might not be an attractive destination either without offering European football.
