Claudio Echeverri will join Manchester City on January 1st 2025, when his loan ends, with the move very similar to that of Julian Alvarez.
According to Football Insider, Manchester City will welcome one of their exciting recent signings, Claudio Echeverri, in January 2025. The South American prodigy joined the club in January but returned to the Argentine side, River Plate, until the end of the year.
Claudio Echeverri’s arrival at Manchester City confirmed
Manchester City are keen on making a significant impact on the international scene and bring in some of the best talents from around the world. The ‘Treble’ winners have an extended scouting network that they want to cover every blade of grass worldwide in the coming years. Overall, the club are on the right track, and their network has already begun bearing results.
At the end of January, they managed to sign one of Argentina’s most exciting youngsters, Claudio Echeverri, from River Plate. Manchester City paid over €18 million for the teenager but allowed the South American prodigy to stay at his former club to aid his development.
However, it’s now confirmed that Echeverri will return to Manchester City in January 2025 once his loan deal with River Plate ends at the end of December. Club chiefs will be eager to see how the player has developed and whether he fits immediately into their first-team plans.
He has shown proper maturity in his performances for River Plate, which will aid him in making a mark at Manchester City. However, the club will not need to rush him into the leading group just yet, as they might experiment with the South American prodigy with their U-21 side first and then make a decision.
Echeverri deals similarly to Julian Alvarez
Back in 2022, Manchester City struck a similar deal with River Plate for another one of their key talents, Julian Alvarez. The Argentine international has since become a ‘Treble’ winner and also lifted the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar.
Echeverri’s deal with Manchester City has features similar to those of Alvarez, with the South American prodigy likely to take inspiration from his compatriot. Alvarez’s presence will also help Echeverri settle into life in Manchester with ease.
