Valencia will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Spanish international Ansu Fati from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to Spanish journalist Adrian Sanchez, Ansu Fati is the subject of interest from Valencia. Los Che will look to prise the 21-year-old away from Barcelona amid uncertainties surrounding his future with the reigning La Liga champions. However, the young attacking prospect wants to return to Sevilla if he leaves the Blaugrana in the summer transfer window.

Ansu Fati and his injury-laden career

Ansu Fati has endured a horrific career after showing promise after breaking into the first-team squad at FC Barcelona nearly half a decade ago. Pundits and fans hailed him as the long-term heir to Lionel Messi after his tremendous impact in the early days in the senior squad.

However, a spate of injuries has brought his career to a standstill, with the youngster barely making any progress in the last few years. While the 21-year-old featured regularly in the 2022/23 season, he hardly started any games. So, Barcelona loaned Fati out to Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.

However, the Spanish international has endured another forgettable campaign, managing less than 1,000 minutes of game time with Brighton & Hove Albion while turning out only 24 times. A return to the Premier League might be on the cards, although recent reports have refuted such a notion. Meanwhile, La Liga club Valencia will look to secure Fati’s services this summer.

What happens this summer?

Valencia’s interest in Ansu Fati is understandable. They have been mired in mediocrity in the last few seasons and want to become a mainstay in the top half of the table. So, it is hardly surprising that the 21-year-old is the subject of interest from Los Che.

However, Fati wants to join another La Liga club instead of Valencia, identifying Sevilla as his preferred destination. Los Nervionenses groomed the 21-year-old early in his youth career before he joined Barcelona. So, it is not surprising that the young attacking prospect wants to rejoin the Andalusian outfit.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will look to part ways with Fati in a permanent move in the summer transfer window. So, the Spanish international has endured a dramatic fall from grace, with his spell with Barcelona ending in the summer transfer window.
