PSG are set to enter the race for Viktor Gyokeres and rival Arsenal for the Sporting CP star’s signature in the summer.

According to Rudy Galetti, PSG are keen on Viktor Gyokeres and could rival Arsenal in the chase for the Swedish striker with 36 goals this season. Sporting CP are protected by a €100 million release clause in his contract and will look to extract maximum value from his sale in the next window.

PSG enters Viktor Gyokeres chase

The upcoming summer window will be a pivotal moment for PSG and their future. They will lose Kylian Mbappe and will need to fill the enormous gap left by the French superstar. The most important thing that needs replacing is the World Cup winner’s goals.

They have set sights on several players, including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Rafael Leao, who are potential replacements. However, they might also opt for a slightly cheaper alternative to the Serie A duo as they enter the race for Viktor Gyokeres, who has 36 goals this season with Sporting CP.

With a sensational season under his belt, Gyokeres is already considered one of the best marksmen in Europe, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he joined a bigger team in another league. PSG is certainly one of the top teams on the continent, and it would make sense for them to sign the Swedish striker to fill the gap left by Mbappe in the summer.

Arsenal also part of the Gyokeres chase

For many months now, Arsenal have been linked with a top striker name. They have seen stories linked to Ivan Toney, Osimhen and Gyokeres. The Gunners would seriously get involved in the race for the Swedish forward should Sporting CP make him available for sale but are unlikely to pay his €100 million release clause.

There have been reports that Sporting might sell him for a lesser fee, in which case the Gunners would show interest in bringing the player back to England. Arsenal are also aware of domestic rivals and their interest in the forward. Still, given how well-positioned Mikel Arteta’s side is, they will be seen as favourites for the Sporting star.
