Italian giants AC Milan are keen on acquiring the services of the 23-year-old Chelsea centre-back Benoit Badiashile.
According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb, AC Milan want to reinforce their defence ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on Chelsea’s Benoit Badiashile. The 23-year-old hasn’t had the best of times in the ongoing season and he could be on the move in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Badiashile’s time at Chelsea
Badiashile came up the ranks at AS Monaco and made quite a name for himself at the French club before joining Chelsea at the start of 2023. The Blues have been focused on signing prospects who can help them in the short as well as long run. They signed the French international hoping that he would establish himself in their first team.
Unfortunately, the move hasn’t gone according to plan. In the ongoing season, the 23-year-old has only featured in 13 matches. While injuries have kept him out from quite a few fixtures, Badiashile hasn’t been the preferred choice under Mauricio Pochettino.
He hasn’t had enough game time this term and it is expected to be more of the same next season as well. As a result, he could look for a move elsewhere. And, the Blues could sanction it given their current financial situation and the need to raise funds.
AC Milan’s defensive struggles & interest in Badiashile
AC Milan are one of the clubs keen on his signatures. The Italian giants are in desperate need of defensive reinforcement. Simon Kjaer’s contract at the club runs out at the end of the season and there is nothing that suggests Milan will offer him a new deal.
Meanwhile, the future of Pierre Kalulu is also uncertain. The 23-year-old has had a season full of injuries and they could look to move him on. Given the kind of situation they are in, Milan do need to add more depth to their defence.
Badiashile has been on their radar since his Monaco days. They wanted to sign him back then but couldn’t strike a deal. But, with him surplus to requirement at the London club, they will look to secure his services for a bargain price to bolster their backline.
