Amadou Onana has been linked with a move away from Everton, with West Ham United Arsenal are keen on signing him.

A report from Football Insider has claimed that Amadou Onana wants to join a bigger club than West Ham United, and the Hammers will be disappointed with the development. The Everton midfielder, valued at £50-60 million, is also a target for Arsenal.

West Ham United need to bring in a quality defensive midfielder who can partner Edson Alvarez at the base of their midfield, especially with Kalvin Phillips unlikely to complete a permanent summer move. He would have been an upgrade on Tomas Soucek.

Onana has established himself as a reliable performer in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. The Belgian has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park heading into the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are keen on signing the Belgian international as well, and they are looking at him as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey. The player is likely to cost around £50-60 million, and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal are prepared to pay up.

Onana will want to compete at a higher level

The Belgian midfielder is highly talented, and he is yet to reach his peak. He is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. He could easily justify the price tag in the coming seasons. Onana has all the tools to develop into a top-class Premier League player.

He is already operating at a high level and has been a key player for Everton. The Toffees will not want to lose him anytime soon. But they are currently fighting the relegation battle, and they will be forced to sell key players if they go down at the end of the season.

Onana will not want to compete in the second division of English football. In addition, the opportunity to join a club like Arsenal can be quite tempting. The Gunners are one of the biggest clubs in the country, and they have been fighting for the Premier League title consistently.

They could provide Onana with the opportunity to push for trophies in the coming seasons. Playing alongside better players at Arsenal could help the youngster improve and fulfil his potential. They will provide him with the platform to compete in the UEFA Champions League as well.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham decide to move on to alternatives now. They will need to improve their squad in the summer to push for European qualification regularly. Signing another defensive midfielder should be one of their priorities.
